

Meridian Township started paramedic service in 1980 and requires all fire suppression personnel to be licensed paramedics.

Since 2010, Meridian Township Fire Department has seen a 10% increase in call volume.Īll firefighters in Meridian Township are paramedics, which is the highest level of EMT certification. MTFD is the second busiest department in Ingham County, responding to an average of 5,000 emergencies annually.

Each MTFD member is committed to serving the community with excellence through the delivery of outstanding customer service. These teams respond to high-risk, low-frequency incidents involving confined spaces, trenches, bodies of water, high/low angle rescues, chemical/gas releases and structural collapses. The MTFD is an active member of the Metro-Lansing Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials Teams. The department also provides fire prevention, code enforcement, plan review and fire safety related programming. Three dual-paramedic staffed advanced life support ambulances deliver emergency medical care at the highest pre-hospital level. Three stations are strategically located to provide timely responses to residents and visitors alike.
